I like cold beverages!!

So I officially made it through the first weekend of jazzfest!! And am proud to say i got to see some kick ass shows, meet some kick ass people, and deal with a gnarly two day hangover...oh and babysit my drunk friend dale.....again.(had to do it on st. pat's day too!!when is it my turn to wile out???oh yeah, i guess i do that pretty much all the time!!! anyhoo...friday night when i got off work i wanted to go see a show that started around 1 am....seeing as how i called all of my friends(ok, so "all" is technically only like, 3 people, ya dont have to rub it in!!!)and none of them were interested, it was off to dreamland for me, and no drinking....i know what you're thinking, no drinking the first night of jazzfest? who is this sober girl and what has she done with drunk janice?? well, dont fret my pet, cuz i definitely made up for the night off within the next couple night/mornings...So, i worked saturday night at the g. clove, bartending. It was pretty freakin slow, but i didnt end up getting out of there til like 1230. I had heard fishbone had a late night show, and i really wanted to go...fortunately i convinced the artist formely known as aaron to come along. We met up at igor's. After getting my ass kicked at both foosball and pool. i had had enough(no, really, i was pretty full of that alcohol!!)we headed to frenchmen...much to my chagrin there was a lengthy line to get in to the fishbone show, so we opted to chill at another spot....it was cool hangin with aaron....sunday we both needed food to nurse our wicked hangovers, so we went to this place called the blue plate cafe...it was the worst meal ever...not to mention that they were out of like everything on the menu, except for cold ass sausage and grits...does anyone truly enjoy a grits experience, i mean really...the texture is strange and it has literally no flavor...i dont get it!! Anyway, after lunch we headed to the garlic clove where drunk ass dale was furthering his all night/well into the next afternooner. He was a total mess, so wasted...i was really worried about him, and he couldnt understand why....uh, hello, you're totally smashed at a bar(my bar no less!), still drinking, refusing to let me take you home, and you're confused about this why??oh yeah cuz you're hammered...anyway, i was super hungover myself and in no way excited about heading to the g. clove in mere hours, but, i convinced him to go to my house, and sleep it off, while i headed to the job....at work i heard that g. love and special sauce were gonna play a late show at a really cool club. I didnt even care if anyone wanted to go with me, i was gonna see me some g love...thats exactly what i did, couldnt find any takers, so i ventured out on my own. i was a little nervous at first, but, standing in line i started talking to this couple that was really cool. the chick is from new york, she bartends here too. Anyway, we chatted in line, then i went in on my own...he had already started when i got in around 1230am. G.love is so smokin hot, and he's a kick ass musician, oooh, and he's super tall. Hell-lo, he's my dream guy!!! I watched him for about an hour on my own, then, while at the bar getting another beverage, i spotted my friends from line.we did shots and i listened with them for awhile. While standing at the bar i spotted and old friend from the first time i lived here....his name is joe, he's from philly. We chatted for a minute, then i told him id catch up with him later. He and his friends ended up making their way over to where i was and we all watched the end together. Dude, his show wasnt over til like 4 in the morning, that guy played forever.....afterwards(joe knows g.love from philly)he said we were headed to a bar on frenchmen to hang with g(i think i can call him g, since, we kinda sort of not really hung out, ok, so we were just in the same bar, but i totally made eye contact!!). We hungout there til about 6ish. We didnt make it in til around 7 in the am, i had already made plans to go to lunch with jen and her boyfriend, and had to be at work at 4. I guess im pretty much recovered at this point, i had to clean the shit out of my house this morning, cuz mi familia is on its way. Im picking up the crazy ladies in a couple hours, im sooo excited its gonna be awesome. I should have some pretty sweet stories to tell, much love!!!!

The fest's a comin!!

So, let's see, where to begin....Last weekend was loooong....I worked friday, and played the role of responsible adult...i stayed home. I worked saturday and went to a work party afterwards...it was awesome, pete(guy from work who had the party)'s place was awesome...it was like a mini melrose place, plus there was an inflatable doll, a party cant be bad with an inflatable doll!! Worked sunday....went to a bartender party at the fly(a huge park that sits on the river, people go to bbq, and drink, of course!!!)it was awesome, free beer and crawfish(still learning to appreciate the art of crawfish...like, i think they kinda smell...and dont taste so great, plus...you're not gettin me to suck the head.....of a crawfish!!). On monday i enjoyed a much needed/deserved day off by paying bills and joining my friend for dinner. The sad part is we ended up at igor's....like i couldnt find anywhere else besides my work to go drink at on my day off. So, tuesday i ended up working like 12 hours....it was pretty insane...woke up yesterday morning, to be reminded by my friend jen that it was 4/20, and we had a celebration to attend...so we packed up the captain's chairs and headed to the fly.....as we pulled in i noticed a bounce house....we started walking toward the party with the bounce house....i realized there were no kids, and saw adults bouncin around....i knew this party was gonna kick ass!!! I even bought a shirt to commemorate the event.....we hung out all day, there were kegs of every type of abita beer and of course, plentiful amounts of all the smokeable stuff..i opted to stick with the beer, and the tasty mojitos....i started to get a little hungry, so i made my way over to the food tent...there was all kinds of bbq(ribs, burgers, chicken)....i decided on a tasty burger, the cook recommended i try his special sauce....after about a half hour i asked someone where the water was cuz, oddly i was parched, almost as if i had smoked, but i hadnt.....somehow we started talking about the food, when someone mentioned that ALL THE FOOD was SPECIAL FOOD, HERBALLY SPECIAL....yeah, i was pretty pissed, i mean, i know this is the stoner day, but, come on....a little warning, for those of us refraining from the herbal pleasure....anyway, my nyp crew and i left the fly and headed to the park to see my boyfriend marc broussard's free show....in honor of 4/20 we showed up tardy and caught only the ass end of his show, he's so freakin awesome that it really didnt matter!! after my long day of fun, i turned in early. Dale's back on the mainland,so he called this morning and we went to sushi. In other news, i've somehow managed to destroy yet another cell phone....i'm not quite sure what happened, but, the only way im able to have a conversation on my phone at this point is to use the earpiece....the screen is totally black all the time...so, i have no way of retrieving any numbers i havent stored in my own personal black book(ok, so i dont have a black book, but it sounded cool)....plus, it totally sucks using the earpiece, in any given situation, its just weird...i mean its like people see you talking to yourself, and you feel the need to let it be known that you're not a crazy person, and are in fact holding a conversation with another real, actual person...so, yeah..jazzfest starts this weekend...going to frenchmen to check out a show tonight...got alot of music to see this weekend!!!

Damn Aussies!!!

Well, here it is, another week gone by, i'm shocked at how fast time flies in this city. The work week went by without incident, but the weekend, well i guess you could say the weekend made up for the rest of the week.Friday i worked my shift at nyp(pizza). Was super tired so i just went home and crashed. Saturday worked at the clove, got off early and started drinkin, somewhere after my 2nd or 3rd red snapper and karaoke versions of aretha's greatest hits(vague recollections include, me, aretha's natural woman, and standing on a table in the bar, not good people, not good at all!!)i realized i should take my buzzin self home!!! I had an early start sunday, in order to prepare for the long day of drinkin and music that lie ahead. I went on a beer run and packed my new igloo(with wheels of course!!, it fit a whole suitcase of delicious miller lite's!!!and a few bottled H2O, hydration is key!!)then jen and i were headed to the river to catch the final day of the french quarter festival. The walk that normally takes no more than 10 minutes was doubled, partially because of the luggage(ice chest) we were hauling, and the kazillions of people around!! This was at like, 11am on sunday. I was like, shouldnt you people be in your hotel room nursing a gnarly hangover or somethin, i mean really!! So we finally made it to the main stage when jen got a vibe that we werent supposed to have coolers. I was like, oh well dude, i just worked up a sweat(not that thats hard to do-fat kid!!)draggin this freakin thing out here. Its stayin!! This festival is quickly becoming one of the largest free festivals in the city. They had like 7 or 8 different stages with tons of different types of all local music!! And the food, well i might venture to say the food is better than the music, not that the music wasnt kick ass, cuz it was. But there were like 30 different food booths, and they all had amazingly tasty morsels. I had just begun devouring my jalapeno macaroni and cheese(soooo bomb!!!)and feeling confident we would be fine with the big ass cooler, when jen says, the kiss of death"i cant believe we havent got caught for our cooler"can you say jinx??So, you know what happened next, not only did i have to part with this awesome mac and cheese, i had to be "escorted out" with my cooler and haul the freakin thing back to my house!!!! I was not a happy camper, halfway home, the cooler took a spill ,and beers and ice and bottled water were running rampant along the streets of the quarter(ok, so it was only one street, but, ya know, me and my flair for the dramatic!!). I finally made it back to my cold, yet still delectable mac and cheese, plopped my now drenched in sweat self down in my captains chair and swore not to move again unless it was a potty break or for more food(ahh, this is the life!!!). We got our festival on for a good 7 or 8 hours. Music highlight-Big Sam's Funky Nation, a kick ass brass band. Food highlight-An out of this worldly delicious oreo bread pudding with ice cream and chocolate sauce, how can something so bad taste soooo goood!!!! Festival lowlight-the inevitable running into bicurious/drunk eric. Whose teeth are now stained black, now, im not too knowledgable on the whole drug world, but im pretty sure it means he's smoking something pretty disgustingly bad!! Anyhoo, sunday ended with us calling it an early night, and tending to our headaches(not enough water, dammit!!)and sunburns!! Monday it was back to work at the clove. Tuesday, after getting off at the clove, i went to hang with jen and some of her bourbon house friends. I started chatting with a friend i hadnt seen in awhile. We started talking about mardi gras. I told him i had met a guy from australia, and the whole story that went along with it. I was about halfway through telling of my adventures when he started asking me what he looked like, then describing him on his own. Soo, yeah, turns out, there was about a week when i didnt hear from him, he had said he was going to baton rouge, turns out, he was hangin out with a girl from the bourbon house. Telling her all the same bullshit stories he told me, and feeding her all the same lines of how he wanted me(i guess i should say "us")to come visit him in europe and blah blah blah, i was stunned, had i been had by an international gigolo??? Only in my world people!!!! Thinking back im like, am i that freakin nieve, or is he just that good??? Really though, what are the chances that he hooks up with two chicks in this city of millions who are actually connected???Its like an fd up version of friendster or somethin!!!Oh my life!!!! So that was tuesday night. Yesterday i went to a free concert in a park nearby. Afterward my friend and i stopped by a new restaurant that hasnt quite opened to check out a mural that my friend christina was commissioned to do. Its awesome, this was her first paid piece, i hope it opens doors for her cuz she's got alot of talent!! Then we headed across the street to a total dive bar. It was sweet, they only had cans of beer(no bottles), and their beer selection was top notch:red dog, milwaukee's best, king cobra it was quite an experience. After that we headed to igor's where i stayed way too late, but made a new friend. Today....is almost over, thats really all i got for now.....workin all weekend.....going to a party sat. night......and a bartender party at the levy on sunday.....must sleep now!!!! PEace OuT!!

Its just too difficult

Whew, can't believe i actually made it through this weekend. At some points, i really doubted it. On Friday night i went out with the pizza crew. We went to tipitinas to check out an awesome show. It was rebirth and kermit ruffins, suhweet ass brass music!!! Im so stoked about my new coworkers!! They rock, just like me!!! After the show we headed to gretchen's house. She lives just around the corner from a 24 hour bar. We decided to check it out, but before we made it i got a phone call from my best friend. She told me that she and her fiance had just called it quits. She was in la for a dance competition and was there with amie, and our friend coop. After we chatted for a bit, i asked to talk to amie, i wanted to ask her if she was coming out for jazzfest. When she got on the phone i noticed some attitude stemming from her end of the phone, i asked if she was coming, she said no and preceded to tell me that "It was just too difficult to be my friend." I was like, what??? She cant be serious, but she was. This coming from a girl whom i supported for the first month she was here in new orleans with me. Never asked/expected a dime in return, yet, im difficult to be friends with??? This bitch is really trippin. Which is precisely why i refrain from friendships with females. Save your fresno bullshit drama. I dont live there anymore, remember?? Its a large part of why i left. I just wish you people would wake up and realize we're not in high school anymore, grow up!!! Anyhoo, after dealing with the lame ass drama, i decided to stay out till sunrise and call it a night(morning). On saturday, i met my friend rebecca at her house, and we planned to head over to the freret st. festival.(a neighboorhood festival with cool music and food!!) Instead we ended up waiting for chris to come over and say goodbye(we waited for almost two hours!!!)before he headed to lafayette!! That punk never showed, nor did he call to say where the hell he was!! I ended up venturing to the festival on my own, it was really cool!! On sat. night i worked at the clove, then came home and tried to nurse my massive hangover. Sunday was pretty chill, worked at the clove. Tonight was crazy. I picked up the shift. When the first server and the cook were both over an hour late, i pretty much knew i had f'd up by working on my day off!! I was tempted to leave, since noone else was showing. I waited it out and ended up working with the two new servers, two words....trailer park. Ohmigod, these bitches were soooo trashy and rude. After the first two hours of them barking out their drink orders sans a please or thank you, i had had enough. I was pretty harsh, but, i mean come on, ever heard of politeness???? Do they not have that where you're from?? I guess im just in a sort of bitter state cuz im anxious for jazzfest. At least i know of 2 people who will definitely be here....my family. i guess, sometimes, they really are the only ones i can count on!!!! Anyway, im working everyday this week. I wonder how long until im totally burnt out/over this whole two job thang!! Guess we'll see!!!! Ps, congrats to roy williams and his tarheels of unc. Although i wish i'd seen him win with kansas, im still happy for him, he deserves it!!!
